Each CSV row is compared with the statement page it came from, so a misread amount is caught before it reaches your import.

The CSV layout stays the same for every statement, which makes the output safe for repeat imports.

DateYYYY-MM-DD. Ambiguous dates are flagged for confirmation instead of guessed.

Getting a bank statement to CSV right the first time

A bank statement to CSV file is usually a step toward something else: an accounting import, a reconciliation script or a shared spreadsheet. Those tools are strict. A stray total row, a date in the wrong order or an amount with a currency symbol can stop an import or, worse, import the wrong value.

That is why the bank statement to CSV export here never inserts explanation lines, always writes dates as YYYY-MM-DD and keeps amounts as plain decimals. If your software expects semicolons, switch the delimiter; if it expects a single signed amount, choose the Amount layout.

Before you download, the preview shows exactly what the first rows of the file will contain. The export always includes every processed transaction, even if a search filter is active, and tells you how many rows it contains.

Bank statement to CSV: common questions

Which encoding does the CSV use?

UTF-8 with a byte-order mark so Excel opens accented characters correctly.

Can I use semicolons instead of commas?

Yes. Choose the delimiter in the export window.

Is the CSV file ready for QuickBooks?

It is a clean generic CSV. A verified QuickBooks mapping isn't available yet, so check your software's import settings.

Why are some descriptions prefixed with an apostrophe?

Text starting with =, +, - or @ is prefixed so spreadsheets treat it as text. Amounts are never changed.

Do filters change what is exported?

No. The export includes all processed rows, and the window tells you the count.

Can I download a CSV template?

Yes — the bank statement CSV format guide includes a synthetic template file.
