Convert a PDF bank statement to Excel in three steps

STEP 1

Upload the PDF

Choose Excel (.xlsx) as the export preference and upload a text-based statement. You see the page count and cost first.
STEP 2

Check the rows

Compare each transaction with the source page, fix anything that looks wrong, and let the balance check confirm the totals.
STEP 3

Download the .xlsx

Your Excel file downloads with numeric columns. Re-downloading never uses more pages.

How the Excel file is structured

The bank statement to Excel output keeps the transaction area clean: no merged cells, no repeated page headers, no totals mixed into rows.

ColumnHow it is written
DateText in YYYY-MM-DD format, so Excel doesn't swap day and month.
DescriptionMerged across lines when the bank wraps it; always stored as text, never as a formula.
Money out / Money inPositive numbers with two decimals and no currency symbol. Or choose a single signed Amount column.
BalanceOnly when the statement prints it. Empty cells are never filled with calculated values.
Source pageOptional column with the PDF page number for every row.

Why a bank statement to Excel file needs a review step

A bank statement to Excel conversion looks finished the moment the spreadsheet opens, which is exactly when errors slip through. A description that wraps onto a second line can become two transactions; a minus sign printed in the wrong column can turn a payment into a deposit. Catching those problems in Excel afterward means going back to the PDF row by row.

Here the checking happens before the download. The balance check adds money in and subtracts money out from the opening balance and compares the result with the closing balance on the statement. If the numbers differ by even one cent, the rows where the running balance breaks are highlighted so you can compare them with the original page.

When the totals match, the Excel file is still labeled honestly: the balance check passed, which is not the same as the bank verifying it. You stay in control of what you accept, and the Summary sheet records which pages were processed and whether any review items were left open.

Bank statement to Excel: common questions

Are amounts real numbers in Excel?

Yes. Money columns are numeric cells, so SUM, filters and pivot tables work without cleaning.

Can I convert only some pages?

Yes. Choose a page range before converting. Partial files are marked partial in the name and Summary sheet.

Does the converter change my data?

Only when you edit a row. The original extracted value is kept so you can undo or reset.

Can I export the same statement to CSV too?

Yes. Switch the format in the export window — it doesn't use extra pages.

What if the balance check says Not available?

The statement is missing an opening or closing balance, or only part of it was processed. Review the rows manually.

Is the Excel file compatible with Google Sheets and Numbers?

Yes. It is a standard .xlsx workbook with a Transactions sheet and a Summary sheet.
